What GEW is

Global Entrepreneurship Week Minnesota, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to strengthening communities, bridging gaps and creating opportunities for individuals and businesses across the global landscape. We believe in the transformative power of entrepreneurship to drive positive change.  Our commitment to fostering connections between Minnesota entrepreneurs and the world is at the core of our work.

There are many programs designed to help the community and create opportunities during Global Entrepreneurship Week:

Project Nandi aims to teach parents and children how to use technology, diagnose and repair Wi-Fi hotspots, and help families take advantage of any Internet or technology discount. They provide laptops, learning spaces, and support for K-12 students of color who have difficulty accessing online learning. With the help of donors who want to prevent the coronavirus pandemic, the digital divide, and societal upheaval from negatively impacting children and their educational development.

Joy on Film is designed for children of all ages. They are given instant print digital cameras and instructed to photograph the things that bring them joy. At the end of the program, the children have the opportunity to share their films with others. The act of noticing and identifying the elements of the child's life or space that bring them joy is a mindfulness practice that helps reduce stress and increase well-being.

Way of the Root Farm is an urban farm where we grow fruits and vegetables. Way of the Root Farm uses the connection to the earth to heal, unite and teach Black communities. They seek to incorporate agricultural technology into community-centered placemaking to bring prosperity and security to Black communities.

The Black Broadband Summit is a catalyst for change. Their mission is to address the digital divide and promote equity in Internet access within the Twin Cities community. They believe that everyone, regardless of background, deserves equal opportunity in the digital age. The Black Broadband Summit has integrated traditional practices for a safe and inclusive environment, discussions of shared experiences, and community-driven solutions for a future without digital barriers.
